Custom RFID Design & Manufacturing
Custom design is what Eccel does best. For more than a decade it has been the core of our business and the reason customers come to us instead of buying off the shelf. If you need to add RFID, NFC, or internet connectivity to a product, we take it from an idea to a certified, manufactured device.
We are not a distributor fitting a standard module into your project. We are a UK engineering company that designs the electronics, tunes the antenna, writes the firmware, takes the product through approvals, puts it in a case, and manufactures it on our own assembly line. That means one partner from concept to volume, a short time to market, and development cost kept under control.
Our case studies show the range, from a smart golf ball that scores itself to prop-triggered readers for escape rooms and cloud-verified readers that stop card cloning.

75-80%
of our business is custom design work
10+ years
delivering bespoke RFID products
In-house
design, approvals, and manufacturing
What We Do In-House
Everything needed to turn a concept into a product you can sell, handled under one roof by our own engineering and production team.
PRE-CERTIFICATION & APPROVALS
We take products through FCC, CE, UKCA, and ISED in-house, so what we design is ready to sell rather than stuck at the last hurdle.
EMC-COMPLIANT PCBA DESIGN
Iterative PCB design and EMC testing that separate analogue and digital circuits to minimise interference and pass compliance.
ANTENNA & RFID ENGINEERING
Custom antennas designed and tuned for range, on-metal performance, and awkward form factors that off-the-shelf parts cannot cover.
FIRMWARE & CONNECTIVITY
Embedded firmware with Wi-Fi, BLE, GSM, Ethernet, and cloud integration, including remote updates and diagnostics.
ENCLOSURE & PRODUCT DESIGN
From 3D-printed prototypes to injection-moulded cases, we house the electronics in a finished, professional product.
RAPID PROTOTYPING
Quick low and high-fidelity prototypes that prove the concept early and let us refine the design fast.
FAST TIME TO MARKET
Concept to volume production in months, not years, with each stage carried out by the same team.
OWN ASSEMBLY LINE
We manufacture in our own facilities, taking a design from rapid prototyping all the way through to production volumes.
COST-OPTIMISED DEVELOPMENT
We keep development lean, replacing expensive off-the-shelf hardware with efficient embedded designs built for volume.
Our Custom Design Process
A single partnership from first concept to volume production. Every stage is carried out by our own engineering and manufacturing team.

1
We scope the RFID, connectivity, and commercial goals with you, and agree the criteria the product must meet.
2
Schematics, antenna simulation, and PCBA design are confirmed through modelling before any hardware is built.
3
Low then high-fidelity prototypes are produced and put through functional and EMC testing, with iterations to correct any issues.
4
The product is taken through FCC, CE, UKCA, and ISED so it is ready for sale in your target markets.
5
Production runs on our own assembly line, from the first batch through to full volume.
6
Firmware updates and design revisions keep the product current as it evolves in the field.
Why Partner With Eccel
Custom design is not a side service for us. It is the majority of what we do, and it is where our engineering depth shows.
One partner, concept to volume
Design, firmware, antenna, approvals, and manufacturing all handled by the same team, so nothing falls between suppliers.
A decade of bespoke work
Custom projects have been the core of the business for over ten years, across many industries and product types.
Fast and cost-controlled
Rapid prototyping and lean embedded design get you to market quickly without an oversized development budget.
Ready to sell, not just to demo
Because we run approvals and manufacturing in-house, what we deliver is a certified product, not a prototype that stalls.
Proven in Access Control
Two examples of Eccel solving the hardest problem in access control, stopping cloned credentials, with our own encryption and cloud verification.

ENTERTAINMENT
Smart Mini Golf Game
A golf ball with an RFID/NFC tag, PCB, LED, and battery potted inside, tracked by antennas under each hole to score play automatically.

THEME PARKS
Adventure Park Gaming Tablet
An interactive gaming tablet with integrated RFID, custom HD display, PoE, and Wi-Fi, certified for FCC and CE and in volume production inside twelve months.

COMPETITIVE SOCIALISING
Fairgame RFID Display
A single-PCB device combining an RFID reader, OLED display, LED indicators, Wi-Fi, and RS485, with a dual-antenna system for stable reads near metal.

ESCAPE ROOMS
Escape Room NFC Reader
The Pepper C1 MUX multiplexed NFC reader and a custom 50×50 mm antenna with a 4 metre cable, driving prop-triggered effects for haunted attractions.

WATER DISTRIBUTION
Cloud-Verified Anti-Cloning Reader
A reader with a GSM module that checks each card against a cloud database, stopping cloned cards from unlocking free water across a national network.

HOUSING
Encrypted Fobs for Shared Housing
An encrypted key fob and door entry reader with 128-bit encryption and a managed cloud database, deactivating lost fobs instantly.
Industries We Design For
Our custom work spans a wide range of sectors. Whatever the environment, the same in-house engineering applies.
Frequently asked questions about custom RFID design
Common questions about working with us on a custom RFID product.
Yes. We take products through FCC, CE, and ISED in-house, so the device we deliver is ready for sale rather than held up at the approval stage.
Both. We design the electronics, firmware, antenna, and enclosure, and we manufacture on our own assembly line, from rapid prototyping through to volume production.
Yes. We design and tune custom antennas in different sizes, shapes, and cable lengths to fit inside products, under surfaces, or into awkward form factors.
RFID and NFC across LF, HF, and UHF, plus Wi-Fi, BLE, GSM, Ethernet, and cloud integration, including remote firmware updates and diagnostics.
It depends on complexity, but our process is built for speed. One recent product went from concept to volume production in under twelve months, including approvals.
Get in touch at sales@eccel.co.uk with an outline of what you want to build. We will scope the RFID, connectivity, and commercial goals and take it from there.
